Rotary Student of the Month

Rotary Student of the Month

Outstanding senior, Sofia Kovalenko, will be honored as the LHS Rotary Student of the Month for her mastery of World Languages in Spanish on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Andrea Noon and Mike Hausenfluck were happy to nominate Sofia “Sofia Kovalenko is a wonderful person and a fine student. She always does her best work in class and rarely fails to impress her teachers. She and her family are from Ukraine, so recent events have been stressful for her. This fall she was able to travel to Ukraine and bring antibiotics to soldiers. Sofia's ability to maintain a high level of academic achievement and offer support for the people of Ukraine is admirable. The Liberty High School World Language Department is very happy to designate her as their Rotary student of the month!”

Sofia has been involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities including Piano, Guitar, UAWS (Ukrainian Association of Washington State), Fencing, Sammamish Animal Sanctuary, Golf, Humanitarian Aid, and is president of the Physettes Club. She is able to balance all of her extra-curricular activities along with her rigorous A/P classes all while maintaining a 4.0gpa.

Sofia is exploring multiple options for her future including Law, Biology, and Politics. As for future career dreams, Sofia is interested in becoming a university professor as well as becoming a politician to “help the world solve issues and try to prevent atrocities such as the war in Ukraine right now”.

Congratulations Sofia, we’re excited for your future!
