Celebrating Principal Andrew Brownson

Liberty HS Principal Andrew Brownson with a "first day of school" sign.

October is National Principals Month, and we're excited to highlight our building leaders in the weeks ahead. Today, the spotlight is on Liberty High School Principal Andrew Brownson!

  • How many years have you been working in education? 16 (this is year 17)
  • How many years have you been working with the ISD? 12
  • What is one of your favorite memories from when you were in school as a student, and why? I remember in elementary school when my school would put on events like hayrides in the fall, which included cake walks, bobbing for apples, etc. My parents and sometimes grandparents would attend. I also enjoyed sharing my schoolwork with them.
  • If you could live in any fantasy world, what would it be? (For example, Narnia, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Middle Earth, Neverland, etc.) Middle Earth.
  • Who inspires you, and why? My wife. She was the first in her family to graduate college, is a working mom, oversees clinical drug trials to treat cancer, and she has the patience to put up with me.
  • What is one of your hobbies or something you’re a huge fan of? I really enjoy Washington State University football.
  • What did you do for fun/to relax this summer? My family and I took a trip to Florida for two weeks. It was my daughter's first "real" vacation and our first in a long time.
  • What’s your biggest hope for this school year? I want to create a culture at Liberty where students feel valued, and at the same time set high expectations for our kids.
