AAUW Honors Liberty Students Inspiring the Next Generation of Women

American Association of University Women (AAUW) Award Winners

Congratulations to the following Liberty High School students for receiving recognition from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for their achievements math, science and technology departments. Those students are: Ella Lieu – Mathematics, Shivali Doshi – Science, and Willow Weltmer - Fashion Design.

The AAUW recognizes girls in the junior year of high school who excel in areas of science, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM). AAUW members work with counselors and teachers at all of the Issaquah School District high schools to identify the girls. Up to three girls are recognized from each high school.

AAUW promotes equity in education for women and girls through scholarships and grants. Their national foundation gives over $3 million to women in scholarships and fellowships annually. In addition, branches within our state give thousands more in local scholarships. The goal is to encourage more young girls and women to become interested in careers in science, mathematics and technology.
