Earn Credit Through Worksite Learning

college and career center

Did you know students can earn high school credit for having a part-time job? The program is called CTE Worksite Learning.

Students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be employed by an organization (self-employment does not qualify)
  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Work an average of at least seven hours per week
  • Have passed or be currently enrolled in a CTE course related to their job

Students earn 0.5 CTE credit — or general elective credit if they have already met their CTE credit requirements — for every 180 hours they work during the school year. Students can earn up to 1.0 credit per school year.

To enroll in CTE Worksite Learning, students must complete the required paperwork. Work hours do not count until the paperwork is complete and returned to the College & Career Center and the employer has completed orientation with the district’s Worksite Learning Coordinator. Hours cannot be counted retroactively; for example, hours worked during a previous summer or school year do not qualify.

Learn more about CTE Worksite Learning or visit your school’s College & Career Center. For questions, contact Jess Hall, CTE Post-High School Pathways Specialist, at hallj@issaquah.wednet.edu.
